19 Months Old and growing
Cute they are "sort of"
I will say that they are really, really funny. They love to play with each other and chase each other. They play an infancts game of hide and seek I think that they are actually pretty smart so far. They got their ABC's just about down, they know 1-9. They pick up books and always have them right side up and read (look at) them in the right order, because they still are working on their dexterity, they skip pages.
They recognize 1,000's of objects. Their pronunciation is still pretty bad and they are working on stringing words together. No full sentences for sure, they follow commands, just about always say "please", and are working on "Thank you". At 19 months, the markers for a 2 year old are
Most children should be able to . . .
Name at least 5 or more parts of a dolls body or their own body..... (they for sure know ears, nose, eyes, eye lashes, eye brows, teeth, tounge, , cheeks, lips, hair, neck, chin, chest, stomach, belly button, ribs, sholder, elbow, hand fingers, fingernails, thighs, knees, ankles, foot toes, toe nails)Half of their speech is understandable (more like 70%)
Form three or four word sentences (2 -3 word combos)
Put on and take off clothing alone (They struggle with their shoes)
Some children will probably be able to . . .
Walk down stairs unassisted (bella most certainly can Axel is pretty cautious but will hold on to wall or railing)
Talk about themselves; likes and dislikes (yep)
Arrange things in categories (Not sure but they sort stuff out like clothes, silverware and the like)
Start asking “why” to everything ( no whys yet)
Some children could possibly be able to . . .
Start to understand gender differences (for sure)
Start to understand concepts like better or worse, sooner or later, etc. (yep hot, warm, cool, cold)
Like to sing and jump (always)
In fact
Their vocab is pretty good they know commands, adjectives, verbs.
Axel can stickhandle with a ball and shovel
They are interested in the potty
They play well with other kid's
Bella is an excellent climber
Axel can throw a ball about 10 feet and can make a basket at about 7 with over a 50% consistentcy
Bella chases and plays with Porter, and laughs uncontrollably
Bella can do 2 pull-ups and hang from bar for at least 30 seconds, Axel can hang for about 15 seconds
They both knock at any door they see (in fact they call doors knock-knocks
When asking someone to get out of the way they both say beep-beep.
The can recognize a mirror in a hand drawn picture of one.
They can recongnize groups of things and will articulate the number up to three. As in how many elephants are in that picture, if there are 10 they are clueless if there are 3 or less they will answer the question correctly with a number. They recognize numbers up to 9.
